LIGHT-HEARTED LAUGHS, ACTION, ADVENTURE, AND ROMANCE

Since returning home from holiday, aside from jetlag, I’ve been dealing with a persistent and irritating cold.  Not my favourite souvenir!  At first all I wanted to do was sleep.  Still lacking motivation and lethargic, I now find myself unable to sleep, also not able to focus on the words in a book.  Essentially, I have been completely unproductive.  With so many things on my ‘to do’ list, this puts me ‘down in the dumps.’

I spent my Saturday evening curled up on the couch with my besties – the little beasties.  I’m caught up on my t.v. shows – the ones I watch while working on knitting projects.  Good thing too as I can’t be bothered to start anything new.  So, I picked a flick.  Something that wouldn’t open the floodgates (ewww, that would be so gross with a cold), and nothing that would require too much concentration.

Finally, I settled on the movie ‘You May Not Kiss the Bride’ (2011).  The movie stars Dave Annable as Bryan Lighthouse (loved him as Justin in Brothers & Sisters), and Katharine McPhee (American Idol, season 5) as his bride Masha.
The wedding to Croatian mob-daughter Masha is arranged after groom-to-be pet photographer Brian is caught in an ill-timed appointment overlap between a cat (mob mother’s) and a German Shepherd.  Don’t worry, the cat does survive albeit extensive veterinary care for the cat and emotional damage to cat and cat (mob) mother.  The wedding is as a means for Brian to clear his debt with the family – and enable Masha to obtain citizenship.

Action, adventure and romance ensue during the honeymoon when Masha is kidnapped!  The remote tropical resort makes for picturesque scenes.  The cast also includes Rob Schneider, Mena Suvari, Vinnie Jones, Tia Carrere and Kathy Bates.  I’m a Vinnie Jones fan and love seeing him in movies where he pokes fun of his ‘macho, tough guy’ persona.
