BLING IS A BIG THING!

The purrrrfect accessories
Previously, I wrote about the importance of having a name – an identity. I believe our possessions should not define us, and of course, health and wellness come first. However, in our house, bling is a big thing. I don’t always remember to put collars back on after the pups have been dried off after their baths.
When I do finally get around to picking the collars up, they jingle jangle like a wrist full of bangles, when the I.D. tag, the insurance tag, and the D-ring connect. Henry and Reese come running from the other room, to claim their charms and be reclaimed. Jack isn’t as excited about the process, but he follows the other two and waits for his turn to be styled.
They like having their collars clicked into place around their necks. I imagine it’s as comforting to them as the habit for some of reaching up to their neck and feeling the string of pearls, inherited from a loved one.
I have changed the collars over the years due to broken clasps, or worn fabric. Just as some people are sentimental about a favourite necklace, or fond of a pair of everyday earrings, I feel the same way about my crew’s tags. I could never change them. Their tags are their statement pieces (King Henry, A (Reeses) piece of my heart, and our (Union) Jack. I did have to replace one though. Who only knows where King Henry’s ‘I’ tag went.
This canvas is called ‘Purrrrrrrls.’ It is the first in the ‘HER’ series featuring ‘her and her companion.’ Canvases, giclee prints and notecards of each piece will be available for purchase very soon.
And yes Paula it could be you! Alterations to the piece include a change of hair, fur, eye, skin, and background colour. Additional changes are considered ‘custom.’ Please contact me if interested in a quote.
A GIRL CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH JEWELRY – OR CATS
The only valuable pieces of jewelry I own are my engagement diamond and the pearl necklace I wore on my wedding day. I prefer to have fun with costume jewelry. Recently, I found a way to support rescue organizations through my love of accessories. I became a Stella & Dot stylist! Each party that I host raises money for the organization.
What is your favourite piece of jewelry, and why is it your favourite?
I love the image on the canvas!! Looks fab. I must admit I do like to change the dogs’ collars and leashes around for some variety but I keep the same tags. Red gets to change up her look a lot more easily than Jack, since she wears sweaters so much of the year because she really feels the cold being a former Florida girl. Had a look at Stella & Dot – what a great idea and such a fun way to help animals.
Thanks, Hindy. Red always looks so stylish in her sweaters. Of course she will need more collars to match!
My favourite pieces of jewellery are my wedding and engagement rings, but also the band I was given by my husband on our 25th anniversary!
Congratulations on 25 years!
Such a cute painting! Great work! I giggled when you mentioned your pups running up to you when they hear the jingling of their collars. Mine HATE when I take their collar off and will lick them and stare me down until I put them back on. Dogs, just like us, are such creatures of habit. Congrats on Stella & Dot too! That’s exciting 🙂
That is so adorable! Your guys REALLY like their bling!
This piece is super cute. I definitely appreciate art in all forms. Hmmm favorite piece of jewelry would be my wedding ring & my 5 year anniversary pendant. 🙂 I’m a jeans and Tshirt kinda gal otherwise.

Thanks, Kamira. I do other styles of artwork. Kind of like jewelry – variety is the spice of life.
Your wedding ring and pendant can be worn with anything, I’m sure.
Beautiful painting! It’s so cute! I love that it can be customized too. As for my favorite pieces of jewelry, I’d have to say my engagement/wedding ring, and a couple of necklaces that have sentimental value.

Thank you. Have you thought of layering your inherited pieces with different metals and other styles? That would be fun!
I am not a jewelry person, and my dogs rough house way too much – my back yard would end up completely bedazzled if either of them wore sparkles! But I do like attractive collars and feel that they can make a nice statement. Sophie has seasonal collars and different ones for different holidays.
It would definitely be beneficial to avoid the bling in the boxing ring!
I am kind of a bracelet girl. I almost always wear bracelets but only wear earrings or necklaces once in awhile. I actually sometimes wear my dog Pip’s tags as a necklace. He passed away in 2013 and I still hold hold tags close
I love that you wear Pip’s tags <3
I always smile when I see this painting. I think my dogs like wearing their collars too. I’m don’t wear jewelry very much, but if I do it is usually earrings or an inexpensive (but sentimental) necklace.

It seems dogs do love their collars. Funny!
I love this idea and thanks for highlighting it for us. I am a jewelry girl in general but adore rings and necklaces. I have a collection of cocker jewelry for myself and that is no surprise. I love to find unique pieces.
Can’t get more unique than Cocker pieces – cute!
I so love this canvas. I think a pet portrait, canvas or something else we can hang and see, is such a great gift. The artist did an amazing job too.
Thank you so much! I’m the artist and I will be sharing more from this series a bit later.
I’m secretly glad that my dog doesn’t wear those. =P
I LOVE this and thanks for the mention! I have a pair of pearls that were my grandmothers. I don’t wear them too much, but they are special to me. I may be interested in a canvas. We’d need to change my hair to blonde (must cover up those grey hairs that are coming in) and would need to change the eyes on the cat to green (with black eyeliner). If we did Truffle, the nose would be black. If we did Brulee, the nose would be red with eyeliner around the nose and eyes.

Those are wisdom hairs Paula! We can definitely make those changes 🙂
