BLOGGING FROM A TO Z CHALLENGE
Due to its resourcefulness, The red fox has gained a legendary reputation for intelligence and cunning.
The sly red fox!
Their coat is brown or gray at birth, and changes during the first month. The coat might not be red at all! Red foxes may be gold, silver, brown, black or a combination of those colours. Their thick tail provides balance and protection against cold weather. It is also used as a signal to communicate with other foxes.
Sadly, Red foxes are still hunted for sport. Hunting season begins soon. Red foxes, are considered nuisance pests by some people and may be destroyed due to concerns about rabies.
There are global petitions to BAN FOX HUNTING online. Please sign.

We live where there are deer everywhere…people want to hunt them but they can’t. Still, it isn’t unusual to hear gunshots on Saturday mornings, especially in the winter. I’m told people are hunting birds?

That is quite the way to start your Saturday morning! We back on to greenspace and I’ve heard shots ring out. It’s unsettling.

I love Foxtrot! A beautiful work of art. Foxes hold a dear spot in my heart. When I was young teen, my brother came home with an unidentifiable gray baby animal. My mom thought it was a rat at first, but my brother insisted it was a red fox as he saw the mother and other babies that had been dead by the road. He walked around to see if there was a nest and any others nearby and found one baby still in the nest. He scooped him up and brought him home where my Mom had me get a doll bottle that we used to feed it with. We nursed and rehabilitated that fox, who grew up into a gorgeous red fox my young 1-year-old niece named ” Ahh” because of the sounds it made! We had an empty rabbit coop in our barn and moved it outside of the barn under an overhang roof. Ahh loved to roam the land free and would come when we called him. He would run right up my leg up to my shoulder where he would sit and go, “ahhh, ahhhh”…waiting for dog food kibble, which he loved! What a wonderful memory your beautiful portrait brought back!
