Most summers, I choose to stay home and make the most of the beautiful, warm weather; it doesn’t last long in Ontario! Wherever you are and whatever you do, holidays are a good time to relax and reflect; a time to appreciate the people in our lives and all that we have been blessed with.
I’m not a fan of the saying ‘everything happens for a reason.’ I prefer instead, to look for the lesson in each difficult situation and try to gain something positive from the experience. I spent many years fighting against the universe; it got me nowhere – exhausted upon arrival. You just have to go with the flow. Or, to quote Mick Jagger “You can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometimes you just might find you get what you need.”
This book beautifully demonstrates the way animals and other friends enter and enrich our lives, often unexpectedly. Even if we aren’t looking for that relationship, the universe creates a connection providing us with the opportunity to meet some truly incredible individuals – people we may feel, at first, we have nothing in common with. We are given the opportunity to learn from each other.
You’ve got yourself in quite the predicament. I’m living that same life, metaphorically speaking. I totally have my ass caught in a big gate. It sucks, I know.
The lessons and real life experiences of the characters, shared in this story are truly a gift. I feel enriched for having read this book, written by Ann Garvin and hope you will treat yourself to this treasure also; it’s pages provide the perfect retreat.
